Chinese railway officials say the CRH380A, designed to operate at a cruising speed of 380 kph, is the fastest train in operation in the world today.

China played host to railway authorities and railway experts from around the world in Beijing , and used the opportunity to showcase a high-speed train that clocked the fastest ever speed in a test run last week.

In the spotlight is the 16-car CRH380A, a new generation of high-speed train which Chinese Ministry of Railways officials say recorded a top speed of 486.1 kilometers per hour on Friday, far exceeding Japan’s bullet trains.

World’s Tallest Building: Who Holds The Title? The Petronas-Sears Controversy Officially, the World’s Tallest Buildings are the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1483 feet / 452m) — but put Petronas side by side with the former title holder, Sears Tower, and look again. The casual observer would say Sears Tower is tops, and by quite a wide margin! The highest occupiable floor of Sears is more then 200 feet higher than the top floor in Petronas and its antennas go even higher. So why are the Petronas Towers considered the World’s Tallest Buildings? Because, in the tradition and lore of tall building, spires count, antennas don’t. Spires are architectural features and they have been traditionally counted in a building’s height, a precedent that dates to the Chrysler Building.  Antennas are not normally considered architectural features. The roots to the State Bank of India are traceable to the first decade of 19th century, when the Bank of Calcutta, later renamed as the Bank of Bengal, was established on 2 June 1806. The Bank of Bengal and two other Presidency banks, namely, the Bank of Bombay (incorporated on 15 April 1840) and the Bank of Madras (incorporated on 1 July 1843) were amalgamated on 27 January 1921, and the reorganized banking entity was named the Imperial Bank of India.
