BJP MLA in Karnataka convicted on bribe charges


In Karnataka, BJP MLA Y Sampangi, who was facing bribe charges, is convicted with a sentence of three and a half years imprisonment and Rs 40,000 fine by a Lokayuktha Special Court in Bangalore today. The MLA was caught red handed while taking Rs 5-lakh bribe in 2009.

 

UP NRHM fraud: CBI raids ex-ministers premises


The CBI today carried out searches at the premises of former UP Minister Anant Mishra in Lucknow and in Kanpur in connection with its probe in two cases of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam. The CBI teams seized some incriminating documents related to the NRHM from Mishra’s premises.


No corruption in coal block allocation: Jaiswal


Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal has denied any corruption in allocation of coal blocks during the last 15 years.He, however, said whether the allocated companies misused the coal could only be ascertained after an inquiry.

22 insurgents killed in different accidents in Afghanistan


NATO-led International Security Assistance Forces in Afghanistan has said that 14 insurgents were killed in suicide attack on a NATO base in eastern Afghanistan on Friday.A press release issued by the Eastern Regional Command of the NATO Forces today says several insurgents wearing suicide vests attacked the forward operation base in Khowst.

 

Shahganj-Jaunpur rail route traffic restored

In UP, the normal traffic has been restored on Shahganj-Jaunpur rail route after repair of damaged tracks.The rail traffic was disrupted after a train accident on May 31, in which five bogies of the Doon Express were derailed near the Mehrawan railway station in Jaunpur district.
