What is JPC

Joint Parliamentary Committee is one type of ad hoc Parliamentary Committees constituted by Indian parliament.Mandated to inquire into a specific subject, a JPC ( Joint Parliamentary Committee) is constituted either through a motion adopted by one House and concurred by the other, or, through communication between the presiding officers of the two Houses. The members are either elected by the Houses or nominated by the presiding officers. As in the case of other parliamentary committees, they are drawn from different groups.

Parliament shuts as 2G tug-of-war continues

New Delhi: Parliament adjourned for the thirteenth straight day on Tuesday as the tug-of-war between the government and the Opposition over a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum case continues.

The  2G SCAM / 2G Spectrum Case :

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India, CAG, has said that 2G spectrum allocation had caused a huge revenue loss to the government .

The scandal over spectrum allocation by the sale of 2G spectrum at a minimal cost and caused damages to the country of India  amounting to Rs. 176,000 crore (1 Crore = 10, 000, 000. Estimation in USD $38260 Million)

Remember  the average  daily earning of  70 % of our country man is below of Rs. 20 /- only and the scam is about Rs. 176,000 crore .(according to the CAG ) .

The 2G Tapes
A petition before the Supreme Courts shows the rot within. It is not just the 2G Spectrum but the entire Republic of India that seems to be up for sale, with the dealers being a group of powerful telemarketers— corporate houses, lobbyists, bureaucrats and journalists.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India  or TRAI established in 1997  is the independent regulator established by the Government of India to regulate the telecommunications business in India.

TRAI in Recent News

TRAI  today announced new guidelines to curb the menace of unsolicited calls by imposing hefty penalties on errant telemarketing firms and operators.

Besides hefty penalties, the telemarketing firms would be allotted a separate series of numbers beginning with ’700′ that would allow subscribers to recognise their calls and decide whether to accept or reject them.

Ashes Urn.jpgThe Ashes is a Test cricket series played between England and Australia. It is international cricket’s most celebrated rivalry and dates back to 1882. It is currently played biennially, alternately in the United Kingdom and Australia. Cricket being a summer sport, and the venues being in opposite hemispheres, the break between series alternates between 18 and 30 months. A series of “The Ashes” comprises five Test matches, two innings per match, under the regular rules for Test match cricket. If a series is drawn then the country already holding the Ashes retains them.

The first Test match between England and Australia was played in 1877, though the Ashes legend started later, after the ninth Test, played in 1882.

Federer finished the season with amazing five titles, including the Australian Open. Up to the ATP final, he won 65 matches and lost only 13.

The Dubai Princess Tower -Worlds Tallest Residential Building

The Dubai Princess Tower is a residential skyscraper in Dubai.
This supertall will be finished in november 2010 last week and it will rise to 414 m (1,358 ft) and have 101 floors.The building was originally proposed at only 90 floors. When complete, Princess Tower will be the world’s tallest all-residential building, taking the title from the Q1 in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, however the title will be taken over by Pentominium  in 2013. When completed Princess tower will become second tallest building in Dubai behind Burj Khalifa.

When finished, the Princess Tower will include the most expensive apartments in the world, the best of which may cost US$85,000,000. The ground floor “Entrance Hall” of the building will be gilded with white gold and supplemented with diamonds, opals, rubies, sapphires and crystals

As of 29 November 2010, 101 stories of Princess Tower have been completed, while the topping out is expected when the crown and spire will be completed.

In May 2010, the New York Daily News listed WikiLeaks first in a ranking of “websites that could totally change the news”

World's First Electronic Passport

China has launched its first ever electronic passports that would contain information in microchips.

The adoption of electronic passports complies with international trends and plays an important role in international travel for officials, Huang Ping, director-general of the department of consular affairs of China’s foreign ministry, said at the launch ceremony in Shanghai on Friday.

The passport features an electronic data storage chip that contains personal data including name, family name, personal numeric code, the document’s term of validity, the issuing agency and citizenship, China Daily reported.

The electronic passport looks the same as a non-electronic one, but it has new digital encryption and printing technologies and is designed to foil forgers, the ministry said.

The production of Chinese passports containing microchipped information began on Friday.
