Assam boat tragedy: rescue on; 45 bodies recovered


In Assam, the BSF, Army and the police continued rescue operation in the river Brahmaputra where a crowded ferryboat capsized due to heavy storm at Burha-Burhi Char under Fakirganj police station in Dhubri district yesterday. 45 bodies have so far been recovered from the incident spot and rescued 49 others.

Sensex gains 131 pts to close at 17,319

Rising for the third day in a row, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 131 points, or 0.8 percent, at 17,319, on funds buying in blue-chips, and especially IT stocks, today.The Sensex had gained 57 points in the previous two trading sessions.
